In short
The Norwegian Forest Finn Museum is a consolidation of four older cultural preservation institutions that have all worked with Forest Finn history and culture:
Gruetunet Museum (established 1942)
Finnetunet (established 1942)
Austmarka Historielag (established 1977)
Åsnes Finnskog Historielag (established 1990)
These four institutions founded the Norwegian Forest Finn Museum in December 2005.
The four founders have worked actively with the protection and dissemination of Forest Finn history and culture within their respective geographical areas, and have collaborated with each other.
Through the consolidation into the Norwegian Forest Finn Museum in 2005, the forces of these institutions were combined, while the original institutions still operate at their facilities and visitor sites. The voluntary efforts made in the departments are of great importance to the Norwegian Forest Finn Museum.
